11:07 pm Some roads are only seen at night Ghost roads -- nothing but neon signs. But some nights the neon gas gets free and turns into walking dead like me
And I've been making promises I know I'll never keep One of these days I'm gonna leave you in your sleep I'll have to go when the whistle blows, the whistle knows my name
Baby, I was born on a train.
Well I know that you were never young And I know you probably won't get old But honey nobody's gonna hurt you anymore And nobody's going to make you want to die
And I've been making promises I know I'll never keep One of these days I'm gonna leave you in your sleep I'll have to go when the whistle blows, the whistle knows my name
Baby, I was born on a train.
I'll go some cold and grey morning, and you won't remember anything Some people don't believe in dying, but some of us don't believe in life
And I've been making promises I know I'll never keep One of these days I'm gonna leave you in your sleep I'll have to go when the whistle blows, the whistle knows my name
Baby, I was born on a train.

12:28 am - Decisions. Decision one:
I'm going to apply to intern/write for the british music magazine "NME" in the Spring. Not in correspondence, though. I mean moving to Europe for the summer (My mother's Scottish, so a work visa isn't a problem, and I have family I could hopefully stay with).
This is pretty much the dream of my 13 year-old self. My dad started bringing home copies of NME when I around that age, and soon I became wrapped up in that written world where the Strokes had saved rock and roll, Muse were rock gods, and bands like the Coral were treated like the drugged out geniuses they still are. These descriptions may sound kind of exaggerated—The Strokes saving rock?—and that's kind of how NME rolls. But they still gave pages to bands like Liars before Pitchfork told you they were cool, and continue to stay ahead of musical trends, even with the limitless reach of the internet. That magazine the nostalgic kick I can't shake
I try not to toot my own horn, but i've written a lot about music. I've inverviewed artists ranging from Gwar and Emily Haines to Shout Out Out Out Out and smaller local bands. I've started freelancing for a small free paper (BeatRoute, mainly found in Calgary), and plan on expanding to a few more arts-focused rags this year, ideally See and/or Vue. I've never felt more comfortable doing this. I have shit-loads more to learn, but I think editing for a year will help with that, and writing overseas would be incredible.
I might come up short, I might be overestimating my writing, and they might never even reply to some Canadian kid who figures he has a fighting chance to make a career out of this. It's unrealisitc, and that's the charm of it. I'll do a bit of research, prep a portfolio accordingly, send them an email at Christmas. Good or bad, I pledge to post the fully reply up here.
Decision two:
I'm unironically getting into Funk music. Thoughts? Current Music: Matthew Good- A Single Explosion

04:27 pm - So, I'm the Arts & Entertainment Editor for the Gateway next year.
But I found out this morning that my Bass guitar was stolen (it was in a 'locked' room, along with other props/costumes for the musical I was playing in.)
What am I supposed to feel right now?
